To celebrate the Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology we travel through time to discover the history that lies hidden all around us and in the earth beneath our feet. Using objects from our own collections, plus local finds borrowed from National Museums Scotland and other collections in Fife, the exhibition will provide lots of opportunities for visitors to get hands on with history.

Explore the mysteries of the North Atlantic at an exhibition at the Scottish Fisheries Museum from 6th March.

The series of drawings, by Fife artist Alan Watson, depicts scenes from ‘Brendan the Navigator’s’ epic sea voyage in a curragh around the North Atlantic in the early medieval period.

In Scotland’s Season of Photography, the Scottish Fisheries Museum is delighted to be hosting a striking exhibition of black and white images shot aboard the seine net fishing boats, Mairead and Argosy, in the North Sea in the 1990’s. These images, by Scottish documentary photographer Jeremy Sutton-Hibbert, capture the reality of the life at sea for the fishermen of Scotland’s North East fishing communities - the cramped conditions, the monotony, and the grueling work in harsh conditions.
