Merchant's Room : Yolande Kenny - The Places, People and Wildlife of Fife
7 September - 31 October 2022
It is our pleasure to welcome Yolandé Kenny back to our Merchant’s Room gallery this autumn with her beautiful art work which captures life in the East Neuk with wit, charm and careful observation.
Her paintings feature small details, portraying stories, especially of how local animals and birds relate to people going about their everyday lives. Each scene exemplifies how we all fit into the world together.
Yolandé began her career in the car industry working with designers in prototype development and then as a Senior Manufacturing Consultant across Europe, but she always craved a life closer to nature – where she could enjoy painting the natural world rather than bits of cars! Having graduated with a First in Fine Art at Central St Martin’s University of Arts in London she lived on the South East English coast, painting people, horses and other animals, mainly in oil on linen.
The picturesque coastline, quaint houses and passing people came to inspire Yolandé when she moved to the East Neuk in 2013. To capture the sea-like ebb and flow of the people and animals that come to live on or visit the Fife coast, her preferred medium is watercolour.
