An Authentic Eye: The Photographs of Rosemary Galer
As part of a placement from the University of St Andrews Museum and Heritage Studies programme, student Boowa Zarcone has created this blog post on the Museum’s online photography collection reflecting on the images within the archives, particularly those by photographer Rosemary Galer.
Boowa says:
In this blog I reflect on the ways in which photographs like Galer’s brought me closer into this vibrant community. Though I don’t think that they can ever replace the lived experience of fishermen and their families, I do believe that they have the potential to connect to a wider audience through their universal themes of camaraderie, service, and conviction.
