Tall Tales of Fishing for Whales in the Frozen North

Start: Wednesday 07 December 2022 18:30

End: Wednesday 07 December 2022 20:30

Join us for this special event on Wednesday, 7th December to celebrate Scotland’s Year of Stories 2022!

6.30PM: Private (last chance!) viewing of Arctic Ventures: Forgotten Stories of Scottish Whaling in our Scottish Whaling Gallery.

A final chance to see Caroline Hack’s textile art interpreting this brutal industry played out against the beautiful land and seascapes of the Arctic Circle.

7 - 8.30PM: Talk by Matt Ylitalo (University of St Andrews), followed by conversation with Matt and Caroline and time for Q&A.

Matt explores the fascinating people, journeys and experiences of Scottish whaling endeavors, drawing inspiration from the museum’s own historic collection.

Free entry but donations welcome. Reserve your ticket on Eventbrite.
