Led by Linda Fitzpatrick, Curator of the Scottish Fisheries Museum.
We are immensely fortunate at the museum to have an outstanding collection of material (archives, records, photographs, audio recordings and objects) that paint a picture of the lives of fishing communities, particularly in the local area. We have added to and used these resources throughout the museum’s existence to create displays, exhibitions, events and publications exploring themes of domestic and working life, customs and traditions, often uncovering very specific stories that nevertheless illustrate national developments and issues.
In recent years our volunteers have also supported many people who are researching their family history, and they have added considerably to our local knowledge. I would be keen for anyone who is currently undertaking a family history project based in the East Neuk to come and see what resources we have that might be helpful, and to share their results with us.
