Welcome to our Museum!

We have introduced some new measures in line with Scottish Government (Covid-19) guidelines to make sure you have a safe and enjoyable visit.

Good To Go Scotland logo

These include pre-booked timed entry, enhanced cleaning, sneeze screens, hand sanitising stations and one-way routes in the museum galleries.

Please do not visit the museum, shop or tearoom if you or anyone in your household has any symptoms of Coronavirus.

We want you to have a safe and enjoyable visit. During your visit, we ask you to:

COVID safety instructions: keep a safe distance; sanitise your hands; wear a mask; follow the one-way routes; card payments only; any questions - we can help.

Visiting the Museum

Please book a timed entry ticket

Timed entry has been introduced to ensure that we can manage numbers and maintain physical distancing. All visitors, including our Members, need to book a timed entry ticket online ahead of their visit. We would encourage you to book in good time to avoid disappointment as slots can fill up a few days in advance.

Small groups of up to six people can visit the museum by booking timed entry tickets in advance. All members of the party must arrive at the same time to be granted entry. Once in the Museum you are asked to stay with your party and, in line with Scottish Government (Covid-19) guidelines you must (including children over 5 years of age) wear a face covering throughout your visit. Please only book tickets for yourself and your household, to help us comply with NHS Scotland’s Test and Protect. We are unfortunately unable to accommodate school and large group visits at this time.

Arriving at the Museum

When you arrive at the museum you must present your pre-booked timed entry ticket (either printed or on a smartphone). You will be checked in by our staff before you can start your visit. Please aim to arrive at the museum at the start of your arrival slot. If you arrive before or after your slot, we may not be able to grant you entry.

Tearoom, Shop and Facilities

Please follow the signage to our new tearoom entrance and wait to be admitted and shown to your table. We will come and take your order and will ask you to provide your contact details to help us to comply with NHS Scotland’s Test and Protect. Please note that in line with Scottish Government (Covid-19) guidelines face coverings must be worn unless seated at your table.

Takeaway orders will be taken at the door and your order will be brought out to you.

Please note, we are accepting card payments only.

The museum shop will be open, accepting card payments only. Please note that in line with Scottish Government (Covid-19) guidelines face coverings must be worn and social distancing recommendations mean we can have only two customers in the shop at any given time.

Toilets in the museum, including an accessible toilet and a baby changing facility will be open for the use of pre- booked museum visitors and seated tearoom customers only.

In line with Scottish Government (Covid-19) guidelines and our commitment to ensure the safety of our visitors as much as possible, we have increased the frequency and expanded the cleaning regime in these facilities each day.

Public toilets are available adjacent to the Harbour Master’s building.

Please refer to the onsite signage and speak to the team should you have any questions during your visit.
