“Surfacing” was a short programme of four linked workshops designed to develop writing informed by the sea and coastline and to explore found objects through art. Led by Sandy Wilkie, eight participants created pieces of “flash fiction” based on a object found on the shoreline. The resulting pieces were then illustrated and mounted. Together with the objects that originally inspired the work, they form a small display in our Waves Café.
The themes and approaches are as varied as the objects and the individuals they inspired.
